My Coaching Journey

How did it all begin?

My journey to coaching has been a deeply personal one, shaped by years of learning, teaching, parenting, and growing alongside others.

What shaped my professional path?

For over 30 years, I had the joy of teaching at San Jose State University. I worked with students from all walks of life, guiding them through topics like human development, parenting, and cultural understanding. More than anything, I loved being a mentor—listening, encouraging, and watching people discover their strengths.

What did parenting teach me?

Parenting has been one of the most beautiful and humbling experiences of my life. As any parent knows, it doesn’t come with a manual. There’s no one size fits all guide, and even with all my academic training, I found myself second-guessing decisions, wondering if I was doing enough, or doing it “right.” That constant self-doubt is something I see in so many parents—quietly questioning themselves while doing their very best.

Why does my background matter to my coaching approach?

My life experiences deepened my commitment to helping others feel seen, heard, and empowered. I want parents and anyone navigating life’s challenges to know they’re not alone, and that support doesn't have to come with judgment.

How did living in different cultures shape me?

Living in different countries also opened my heart in unexpected ways. I saw how families and individuals wrestle with identity, belonging, and change. I came to believe that no matter where we are in the world, we all want the same thing: to feel connected, understood, and capable of creating a meaningful life.

How did coaching bring it all together?

Becoming a coach through iPEC allowed me to bring all of these pieces together. Coaching has given me a beautiful new way to walk alongside people—not with answers, but with curiosity, compassion, and belief in their potential.
